Tsiri's Greeting

Hallo.

My name is Tsiri. I was born 10 years ago, in order to cover the place of the  mascot in a group of people named Tsiritsantsoules.

I had ten great years with Tsiritsantsoules. We played, we ate, drank, had fun, had quarrels, then friends again, we traveled and we laughed a lot. 10 years of ‘gipsy’ life, since we never had our own place..And as the time was passing by, traveling around, our company was getting bigger and bigger. One would say that these were the ideal circumstances for a carefree mascot like me to grow up.

But instead of all this, my job is not always easy. If anyone meets Tsiritsantsoules, he/she will understand me. Their productions are almost no budget productions and also sponsorless productions. So the final result depends only on their imagination and their work, either they film, either they act, either they play music, either doing visual arts. Of course, all this stuff is nice, but please, think that all the responsibility lies on the mascot. The risk is huge. But I think I’m addicted to that by now and I can admit I like this situation a bit.

Whoever I meet asks always 3 questions that bring me in an uncomfortable place. That happens because there are no answers to these questions, or maybe I haven’t found them yet. First they ask me what is Tsiritsantsoules and of course I start to laugh. This question will remain as a quiz that will surely occur the philologists for many centuries in the future, since this word is not clear even to the people that use it as their groupname. Then people want to know how many Tsiritsantsoules are. I usually try to answer this question and I start calculating. At last they ask me why do I always smoke. Hmmm I don’t know what to say, it’s one of those things that you really cannot give up.

This birthday finds me on the edge of my childhood. Here I am ,“minimal”, with unkempt hair and with a ciggi on my lips. Psychologists say that the next decade  will be the most difficult because I will enter pubity and who knows how I am going to get out of there. Probably in my 20 ‘s I will wear a tie and smoke a cigar, or maybe I will have died of hunger.

Nevertheless as I put off my birthday cake candles, I wish me to keep my innocence pure as long as I can and to Tsiritsantsoules to stay away from bosses and independent of any sort of “protectors”. Only time will tell…

Thanks for honoring me on my birthday,

TSIRI
